Turkey is more than beaches and Istanbul
For centuries, the beauty and the treasures of Turkey have been hidden for the foreigners due to the strict laws in the Ottoman Empire. Well, you can have a deep breath – they are not anymore and you can see the country magnificence in places which were totally unknown to the wide public before.
Undoubtedly, the pearl of Turkey is Istanbul. It is one of the largest cities in the world with population of between 15 and 25 million people according to different sources. In other words, it is bigger than most countries in the world. It has also been a capital of three different empires (the later Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire) and currently, Istanbul is the most important city in modern Turkey with great connecting flights with the rest of the world. It is one of the most modern cities in the world and offers almost unlimited options for sightseeing, clubbing, meeting interesting people and last but not least, shopping. If you like to bargain, Turkey is the right place for you.
In fact, you can get great deals for the famous Turkish beach resorts Marmaris and Kusadasi and for many others. They have great deals with very competitive prices which are significantly lower than the ones in Western Europe. However, the weather is hotter, the beaches – great and the food is extremely delicious. Add to that the genuine hospitality of the local people and you will understand why so many tourists have their vacation in Turkey!
There are also other cities which are worth visiting. The most prominent ones are Ankara (the current capital of Turkey – a mix of traditions and ultra-modern technologies), Izmir (a beautiful city with rich history), Adana, Edirne and many, many others.
