There are so many castles in the world. Each and every one of them has its own story. It may not be possible to know about all of them but let’s find out seven which are interesting in their own way.

1. The Potala Palace: Tibet’s greatest monumental structure

This palace is the greatest monumental structure found in Tibet. It is located upon Marpo Ri hill and is about 130 meters above the Lhasa valley. This palace rises to further 170 meters and thus is a huge structure. Many additions have been done to it during the coming years.

2. Predjamski Castle: Integrated in a Cave

Every castle is unique in its own way. You would find very few to be same, but this is totally different from other castles around the world. This is as it is integrated in a cave. The word Predjamski means “Castle situated in front of cave.” It may not be huge compared to other castles but its uniqueness lies in its location.

3. Matsumoto Castle: Japan’s most fascinating castle

Among the number of castles located at Japan, Matsumotojo, is the most beautiful castle. It is built on plains and not on any hill or mountain. This caste is beautiful for its architecture and the defended turret built for viewing moon makes it more special.

4. Neuschwanstein Castle: the Classic Fairytale’s Castle

Located over the Pullat River gorge, this castle is a fine example of castles built during the medieval period. The castle was constructed with proper plan and certain features like toilets with automatic flushing, running water in all floors are really commendable, thinking about those days.  This castle is the model for the sleeping beauty castle in Disneyland.

5. Malbork Castle: World’s Largest Brick Gothic Castle

This castle in Malbork was built by the Teutonic Order in Prussia. This is the world’s largest gothic castle made up of brick. This is also a classic example of the medieval fortresses. A town names Marienburg has grew around this castle.

6. Mont Saint-Michel: a Medieval Castle on a Small Island

Situated at the quasi-island on the Normandy coast Mont saint Michel is entirely separated from the mainland. This castle was started as a monastery and gradually was used as a castle. For its beauty it has been featured in lot of movies, video games, and pictures.

7. Prague Castle: World’s Largest Ancient Castle

This list would not be complete without mentioning the name of Prague castle. Guinness book of world record considers it as the biggest castle of the world. It had been office of the Presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech crown jewels were kept at this castle.
