Short stays in foreign cities are an ordeal that’s for sure, especially when you only have a day and want to see all that there is to see. And for a city like Barcelona the mission seems impossible at first glance, but don’t worry, I have the solution! Here’s a list of must see/ do things during your visit:

Wake up super early to make the most of your day by hitting the streets of Barcelona. Avoiding the crowds is crucial when you have flights or buses to catch.  And you don’t want anything to slow you down. Stroll the streets of the Gothic neighborhood then go straight to the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Have breakfast with churros con chocolate – you just can’t miss them. In Granja La Pallaresa make them extra fine!

Take a walk along La Rambla that is the liveliest street in Barcelona. There you will find Mercat de la Boqueria – the city’s most famous market. While there, you can buy some snacks or drinks to get you through the day.

After La Rambla head towards the heart of Barcelona – Plaça Catalunya. From there visit Passeig de Gràci and discover  La Casa Batlló and La Casa Milà, known also as La Pedrera.

Of course, you can’t skip La Sagrada Família - probably the most iconic structure in the city. It will certainly win you with its grandeur and beautiful architecture. If you want to check it from the inside, bear in mind the long queues and buy tickets online in advance. To get there, take the metro from  Passeig de Gràci.

Spend the afternoon in El Parc de la Ciutadella. Wonder around the park to find the perfect place to take a breather and lunch. The parc is the ideal spot the observe or engage with the locals since a lot of yoga or dance classes take place there. There are also people walking, jogging or just laying on the grass under the shade of the trees, escaping from the afternoon sun.

In the evening head to La Barceloneta. A great area, once used to be a fishing neighborhood, now transformed into an amazing place to have tapas. There are lots of awesome bars and seafood restaurants where you can enjoy evenings with friends. So find one to your taste and spend the rest of your visit by the beach with a glass of wine!
